From enhanced integration between Alteryx and Tableau, the new 10.5 release offers easier data cleansing, new workflow execution options and so much more…
Staying in-tune with their ‘i.am.analytics’ theme for this year’s Inspire event, the leading self-service data analytics platform Alteryx, recently launched Alteryx Analytics 10.5. The new release promises to provide more functionality and enables analysts to access diverse datasets from different cloud and big data sources. The platform now allows users to easily connect and import data from Google Sheets and Adobe Analytics along with providing enhanced Salesforce connectivity.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at what’s new in Alteryx 10.5.
User Experience Enhancements
Going a step further from their previous release, Alteryx 10.5 features major user experience enhancements. The Results window, especially, has gone through several enhancements. Now, tool metadata and messages have been moved to the Results window, and selected cells have a more legible highlight. Also, users will no longer be able to access the “Sum” action from within the Numeric category anymore. It has been moved to the Summarize tool now.
Alteryx Web Data Connector for Tableau
From analytic output to visual exploration, the Web Data Connector tool enables Tableau users to pull data from an Alteryx workflow, without them having to directly access Alteryx. Despite having two other options to push data into Tableau, WDC, apart from allowing users to pull data, also enables them to get real-time data at a moment’s notice.
New Big Data Connections
Taking self-service analytics to the next level, Alteryx 10.5 enables analysts to access and utilize data from three new big data sources. Amazon Aurora, Amazon’s relational database, will now be available using the standard Input tool. The new release has also introduced full support for MS Azure SQL Data Warehouse and In-DB support for both, Azure and Apache Hive.
Enhanced Salesforce Connectivity
First made available with Alteryx 9.0, the new release now offers enhanced Salesforce connectivity. Keeping pace with the large volume of data available within Salesforce, Alteryx has added a new search and sort-based functionality along with making data profiling easier. To streamline data formatting, JSON results output are now auto-parsed. The enhanced connector now also makes it easier for analysts to write custom SOQL queries.

Easier Data Cleansing
Alteryx 10.5 now offers a new Data Cleansing tool which enables easier and faster data cleansing. Analysts will now be able to remove nulls and numbers from strings, eliminate extra white space, and automate common data cleansing tasks.
New Workflow Execution Options
The new 10.5 release now gets access control options which lets analysts limit and control the access of a workflow, down to the end-user level. An analyst who creates a workflow can now save it in the Gallery with optional credential settings, which will require end-users to either enter their own credentials or use specific credentials assigned to them by the analyst.
